CM Murad Ali Shah cancels first E-Challan in Karachi

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that the first e-challan issued for traffic violations will be canceled as a one-time waiver.

The decision followed a report presented by Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, which revealed that 35 government vehicles had been fined under the new e-ticketing system for violations such as not wearing seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, jumping red lights, and having tinted windows.

DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah informed the chief minister that the first e-challan was issued to a police vehicle on October 28 at 1:36 p.m. for a seat belt violation at two points on the Garden-Lyari Expressway.

IGP Memon stated that citizens can request a waiver for their first e-challan within 10 days, but repeat violators will be required to pay their fines.

The chief minister reminded citizens to follow traffic rules for their own safety, saying, “Civilized citizens always obey traffic rules.” He emphasized that the police are not exempt from the law and that the new e-ticketing system is helping enforce traffic regulations more effectively, ensuring equal treatment for all.
