Feels-like temperature crosses 50°C in six Pakistani cities

Pakistan remains in the grip of a severe heatwave, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reporting feels-like temperatures above 50°C in six major cities on June 30, 2026.

According to the PMD’s 2:00 PM (PST) observations, Sargodha recorded the highest heat index at 54.3°C. The city falls under the “Extreme Danger” category, where the risk of heat stroke is considered imminent.

Sukkur recorded a feels-like temperature of 52.7°C, followed by Faisalabad at 51.6°C. Dadu reached 50.4°C, while Peshawar and Islamabad recorded 50.3°C and 50.1°C, respectively.

Lahore also experienced intense heat with a feels-like temperature of 49.5°C. Sialkot recorded 48.0°C, Multan 47.9°C, and Karachi 40.6°C.

The PMD has advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and watch for symptoms of heat-related illnesses.

Children, older adults, and people with existing health conditions remain the most vulnerable during extreme heat.

Authorities have urged the public to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions as high temperatures persist across many parts of the country.
