A man sustained serious injuries after his clothes caught fire while he was smoking in Basti Bhatti, a locality of Liaquat Pur.
Rescue officials said the victim, identified as 45 year old Iqbal, was smoking when a spark from the cigarette fell onto his clothing. The fire spread rapidly, and he suffered severe burns before assistance could reach him.
After receiving the emergency call, rescue teams arrived at the spot and administered first aid to the injured man.
Given his critical condition, Iqbal was first taken to Tehsil Hospital Liaquat Pur. He was later shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan for further medical care.
Officials confirmed that nearly 30 percent of his body was burned. He remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
