Petrol, diesel prices likely to rise again from October 1

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to go up again from October 1, 2025, driven by rising global crude oil prices.

Industry insiders shared that both ex-refinery and ex-depot prices are set for another increase. Petrol’s ex-refinery rate is likely to rise by Rs1.97 per liter, moving from Rs160.93 to Rs162.90, while high-speed diesel may see a Rs2.48 hike, taking it from Rs172.65 to Rs175.13.

Kerosene oil could see the steepest jump of Rs4.66 per liter, from Rs151.62 to Rs156.27, and light diesel oil is expected to inch up by Rs1.76, from Rs141.63 to Rs143.39.

This will reflect directly at the pump. Petrol’s ex-depot price is projected to climb from Rs264.61 to Rs266.58, diesel from Rs272.77 to Rs275.25, kerosene from Rs179.96 to Rs184.61, and light diesel from Rs163.42 to Rs165.18.

If implemented, the revision will further strain already stretched household budgets, especially for middle- and low-income families grappling with record inflation, soaring electricity bills, and rising food costs.
