Govt offers Rs100,000 cash reward for bikers: Here’s how to apply

LAHORE: Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday announced a cash reward of Rs100,000 for bikers who convert their petrol motorcycles into electric ones.

While addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the minister shared that the Punjab government has introduced a new forest initiative where individuals and businesses can adopt parks and forests to help reduce their carbon footprint.

She also spoke about the Green Credit Program launched by the Environment Department.

This initiative allows citizens to earn financial rewards in the form of green credits by planting trees.

She encouraged people to learn more and register by visiting the official website: https://greencredit.punjab.gov.pk.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, she said, the government will offer Rs100,000 to motorcyclists who make the shift to electric bikes through this program.

Aurangzeb also emphasized that the government is promoting the switch to LED lights, which will also help citizens earn carbon green credits.

She said, “The ‘Plant for Pakistan’ initiative is part of the Chief Minister’s vision to increase Punjab’s green cover through urban forests.”

Criticizing previous plantation drives, she said there had been no proper accountability in the past, adding, “We are not making empty slogans like the so-called ‘Billion Tree Tsunami.’

Every tree planted is being mapped and monitored, and Australian-style monitoring technology will be fully implemented this year.”

She announced the formation of a fire control force in Punjab, using modern technology, with support from the Bank of Punjab.

She also shared that encroached forest land has been reclaimed, and the government remains focused on forest preservation and expansion.
