Punjab plans permanent relief for new parents

The Punjab Local Government Department has proposed permanently removing the birth registration fee and has submitted a summary to the provincial cabinet for approval.

The department said the proposal is intended to end the fee on a permanent basis. Last year, the Punjab cabinet approved a one-year exemption from birth registration charges.

Now, the department has recommended extending that exemption indefinitely. The summary has been sent to the Punjab Chief Secretary’s Office and later forwarded to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for final approval.
