Govt to enforce complete weekend lockdown across Pakistan

A weekend lockdown plan, currently under review by the Prime Minister, is close to being finalized. According to sources within the cabinet, an official announcement is expected within the next two to three days.

The proposed measures include shutting down business, commercial, and industrial operations. There will also be limits placed on weddings and other public gatherings.

Essential services, however, will continue to operate. At the same time, provincial authorities have been directed to speed up the registration process for two- and three-wheelers. This step is aimed at supporting targeted subsidy programs during the lockdown period.

As per the proposal, the restrictions will come into effect from Saturday afternoon and remain in place until Sunday midnight. During this time, all commercial activities, including wedding events, will be halted, while markets, offices, and other non-essential services will stay closed.
