KARACHI: A school van caught fire in Karachi’s Shah Faisal area on Thursday while dropping children home, according to the report.
According to details, the fire erupted during school dismissal as the van was on its way to deliver students to their residences. As soon as the flames appeared, people from the surrounding area rushed to the spot and helped pull the children out of the vehicle.
Several students suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. SSP Korangi confirmed that all children were safe, adding that most were affected due to panic and the rush that followed the incident.
In a separate incident earlier this week, six children received burn injuries when another school van caught fire in the Nazimabad area on Monday morning. The incident occurred near Kuba Mosque at around 7:30am.
Rescue officials said the fire was likely caused by overheating and a possible electrical short circuit. Three injured children were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, while the remaining three were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
Witnesses said residents acted quickly, helping douse the flames before the fire could spread further.
