The federal government may have an opportunity to lower fuel prices slightly in the upcoming review, following consistent hikes over the past few weeks.
According to a report by brokerage firm Arif Habib Limited, petrol could be reduced by Rs6.82 per liter, while high-speed diesel may see a drop of Rs1.68 per liter.
If these reductions are applied, the price of petrol would decrease to Rs265.33 per liter, and diesel would come down to Rs282.67 per liter.
At present, petrol is being sold at Rs272.15 per liter, and high-speed diesel at Rs284.35 per liter.
Just over a month ago, on June 1, these fuels were priced at Rs253.63 and Rs254.64 respectively. This shows an overall rise of Rs. 18.52 per liter in petrol during that period.
