The Punjab Government has purchased 144 single-cabin vehicles for the Crime Control Department (CCD), according to officials. Sources within the department said that body fabrication and the installation of lights for each vehicle will cost nearly Rs400,000, taking the total expenditure to around Rs570.6 million. The Inspector General (IG) Punjab had earlier sent a summary for approval, after which the provincial government released the necessary funds.
In another important development, the Punjab government has issued an official directive stating that CCD personnel will no longer perform duties in the Punjab Constabulary.
In the past, officers from other police wings were deputed to the constabulary, but under the revised policy, CCD staff will remain permanently posted within their own department and will not be transferred to any other wing.

The notification explaining this decision has been shared with all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), as well as the CCPO Lahore, to ensure the policy is implemented uniformly across the province.
Officials said these measures are intended to improve the operational strength of the CCD while making sure that trained officers continue serving in their specialized positions.
