During the ongoing matric examinations, a large number of government schools across Punjab are facing serious staff shortages as most teachers have been assigned exam duties. The situation has affected both classroom teaching and routine administrative work in many institutions.
According to reports, nearly 80 to 95 percent of teachers in several schools are currently performing duties at examination centres. At Government High School Kuriya, 11 out of 12 teachers have been deputed for board duty, while Government Primary School Jevon Hana has 6 of its 7 teachers occupied with exam-related responsibilities.
The shortage of available staff has created major difficulties for school heads, who are finding it hard to manage everyday school affairs. Principals have expressed concern that with almost the entire teaching staff away on examination duty, regular school operations are at risk.

After taking notice of the issue, the Punjab Education Minister has directed the relevant authorities to ensure a balanced deployment of teachers from each school for examination duties so that the teaching process continues without interruption.
School heads have also urged officials to assign only selected teachers for board duty, allowing the remaining staff to carry on academic activities smoothly.
