Saudi govt to announce 340,000 new jobs

Saudi Arabia has unveiled plans to create more than 340,000 private sector jobs for its citizens over the next three years with the launch of the second phase of the Nitaqat AlMutawar program. The move is part of broader efforts to increase the number of Saudis working in private companies and reduce dependence on foreign workers.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development noted that the first phase of the program, launched in 2022, provided jobs to over 550,000 Saudi nationals, far exceeding the initial target of 340,000 positions.

The newly introduced phase places equal emphasis on expanding employment opportunities and improving job quality, to support long term and sustainable economic growth.

Minister Ahmed Al Rajhi said the program seeks to strike a balance between faster Saudization and the competitiveness of the private sector. “Our goal is to create opportunities for Saudi nationals in a way that strengthens economic growth,” he said, adding that previous phases demonstrated the ability of Saudi workers to perform well across a wide range of professions.

Deputy Minister Abdullah Abuthnain explained that the second phase is based on detailed studies covering different industries and business sizes, allowing Saudization targets to better match real market conditions.

Officials believe the initiative will improve job security, productivity, and stability in the labor market while boosting private sector confidence and ensuring a healthier balance between workforce supply and demand, ultimately empowering national talent for lasting economic benefits.
