Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered the repair and reconstruction of Karachi’s damaged internal roads, many of which suffered during recent rains.
The directives came during a high-level meeting attended by provincial ministers, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and senior officials to review the condition of the city’s roads.
The Chief Minister asked the Mayor and Local Government Department to carry out a detailed survey of all deteriorated roads, stressing that both the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and town administrations should draft reconstruction plans under the department’s supervision.
“All internal roads must be repaired or rebuilt,” he said, adding that proper drainage systems should be installed alongside roads to prevent damage from rainwater.
Mayor Wahab informed the meeting that a survey of KMC roads is already underway, while the Local Government Minister confirmed that town administrations are conducting similar reviews. The reports will be compiled into schemes and presented to the CM for approval.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Local Government Department to step up cleanliness drives across Karachi to improve the city’s condition.
