The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to mark the annual Urs of the renowned Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
According to an official notification, the holiday will be observed by all provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils working under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
“The Government of Sindh declares 14th Safar 1448 AH/29th July, 2026 (Wednesday) as a public holiday throughout the province of Sindh on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai for all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, local councils under the administrative control of the Government of Sindh,” the notification reads.

The annual Urs is observed every year from the 14th of Safar, the second month of the Islamic calendar, and continues for three days.
The celebrations begin with poetry recitals, literary conferences, and several cultural activities held in honour of the great Sufi saint and his literary legacy.
