The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the monsoon season is expected to begin in some parts of the country from July 1, with rainfall likely in northeastern Punjab, Kashmir and the northern regions.
PMD spokesperson Anjum Nazir said monsoon currents are expected to enter Pakistan through northeastern Punjab and Kashmir, bringing rain to the northern areas and parts of Punjab.
He added that Sindh is unlikely to receive monsoon showers over the next few days, with no rainfall expected in the province until July 5.

Speaking about Karachi, Nazir said a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal may bring rain to the city and other parts of Sindh. However, he said Karachi and the rest of the province are expected to receive below-average rainfall during this year’s monsoon season.
He also noted that India recorded 43 percent below-normal rainfall during June.
