KARACHI: Power restoration is ongoing in several rain-affected parts of Karachi, according to a report citing K-Electric.
A spokesperson for K-Electric shared that electricity is currently being supplied without interruption to 1,830 of the city’s 2,100 feeders.
Power has already been restored in multiple areas, including various blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nauman Center, Muslim League Quarters, PECHS Block 3, Bahadurabad, Bahadur Yar Jung, Teachers Society, Shahnawaz Bhutto Colony, Labour Colony, SITE Industrial Area, and Philips Chowrangi.
However, the spokesperson explained that the supply remains suspended in low-lying neighborhoods and areas with encroachments or illegal connections, as a precautionary measure for public safety.
K-Electric’s teams are actively working in the field to accelerate the restoration process. Residents have been encouraged to report any electricity-related issues by calling the helpline at 118, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, several parts of Karachi received rainfall Thursday night, with varying intensity across the city.
Areas such as Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Memon Goth, Shah Latif Town, Razzaqabad, Bhens Colony, and Saddar were among those that experienced showers.
Steel Town, Pipri, Port Qasim, Ghaffar Phatak, and nearby neighborhoods were also affected.
Rain was also reported in Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, University Road and its surroundings, as well as in Tariq Road, Bahadurabad, Hasan Square, P.I.B., Jail Road, Safura, Saadi Town, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Scheme 33, Incholi, Gulberg, and Garden.
