The plan to distribute scooters to thousands of female teachers has yet to materialize, as the recently announced 2025–26 fiscal budget made no financial provision for the initiative.
Earlier, the School Education Department had revealed its intention to provide scooters to women teachers throughout the province.
Despite the provincial education minister’s public assurance to extend this support to both school and college teachers, the new budget includes no allocation for it.
This has led to disappointment among many female educators, who were hopeful the initiative would move forward.
They have called on the education minister to honour the promise, emphasizing that having scooters would greatly improve their daily travel and help them reach schools on time.
