The Punjab government has instructed authorities to identify and demolish unsafe and unusable school buildings across the province, as reported on Friday.
Officials have also been ordered to evacuate schools that are in poor or hazardous condition immediately. The process of identifying dangerous structures has already been completed under the annual development programme.
Deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of education have been told to take swift measures to ensure the safety of students. The School Education Department has issued an alert to concerned officials, directing them to halt academic activities in buildings declared unsafe.
Authorities have been asked to act on the findings of the safety audit report, while strict action will be taken against anyone found negligent in carrying out these instructions.
