Punjab govt launches program to promote local languages in schools

The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to promote Punjabi language, literature, and polite communication in public schools across the province.

Under the program, students will be trained to use courteous expressions such as “Tusi” and “Assi” while avoiding informal or offensive language. The initiative also encourages the teaching and use of regional languages like Saraiki and Pothohari in schools of southern and northern Punjab.

Headteachers have been instructed to organize activities in local languages and record videos of students speaking Punjabi or other regional tongues. All videos are to be shared in official CEO groups, and school heads must submit reports to confirm that the program is being properly implemented.
