Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the reopening of gas connections for domestic consumers across the country, calling it a major step toward addressing Pakistan’s ongoing energy supply issues.
Speaking at a ceremony, the Prime Minister said that during the PDM government in 2022, gas shortages posed a serious challenge, but the current administration has worked hard to improve the situation.
He added that starting today, new connections of high-quality RLNG (Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) are being provided to the public.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that the PDM government had taken solid steps to strengthen the gas infrastructure and ensure a reliable energy supply.
PM Shehbaz extended his congratulations to all political leaders of the coalition government for contributing to this achievement.
In a related development, the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has reported the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in Sindh.
In a statement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL announced that gas and condensate had been found at the Faakir-1 exploratory well located in Khairpur district.
OGDCL operates the well with a 95 percent working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 5 percent share.
