Pakistan Post has revised the charges for several domestic postal services, with the new rates set to take effect from October 1. The revised tariffs will apply to customers using postal services at post office counters.
The new rates were approved by the Pakistan Postal Services Management Board at its meeting held on August 12.
Under the revised tariff, an ordinary letter weighing up to 20 grams will cost Rs.40. The postage will be Rs80 for letters up to 50 grams, Rs100 for up to 100 grams, Rs140 for up to 250 grams and Rs170 for up to 500 grams.
For letters weighing more, the charges have been fixed at Rs250 for up to 1kg, Rs320 for up to 1.5kg and Rs400 for up to 2kg.
Pakistan Post has also fixed the registration fee for letters at Rs40. This means a registered letter weighing up to 20 grams will cost Rs80. The charges will rise to Rs120 for letters up to 50 grams, Rs140 up to 100 grams, Rs180 up to 250 grams and Rs210 up to 500 grams.
Registered letters weighing up to 1kg will cost Rs290, while those up to 1.5kg and 2kg will cost Rs360 and Rs440 respectively.
Customers sending value-payable letters will have to pay an additional Rs20 fee along with the relevant postage and registration charges. The total cost will range from Rs100 for a letter weighing up to 20 grams to Rs460 for a letter of up to 2kg.
The registration fee for parcels has also been increased to Rs80. A registered parcel weighing up to 1kg will cost Rs260. Parcels weighing up to 3kg, 5kg and 10kg will cost Rs400, Rs540 and Rs760 respectively.
For parcels weighing more than 10kg, the charges will be Rs980 for up to 15kg, Rs1,210 for up to 20kg, Rs1,440 for up to 25kg and Rs1,660 for up to 30kg.
Parcels weighing more than 30kg will be charged an additional Rs30 per kilogramme.
The revised postal charges will apply to walk-in customers from October 1.
