The government has decided to enforce stricter rules for unregistered private educational institutions (PEIs) in the federal capital. These institutions have been given two months to complete their registration and meet all required regulations.
The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has also introduced a one-time amnesty for schools that have delayed renewing their registration. Under this relief measure, the deadline for submitting renewal fees has been extended to April 30, 2026.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by PEIRA Chairman Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah. Officials reviewed delays in registrations and examined student enrollment data from private schools across Islamabad.
The main objective is to strengthen the data collection system and ensure that student enrollment records are accurate and properly verified.

During the meeting, Dr. Mallah highlighted the need for verified data to promote transparency, support informed decision-making, and improve regulatory oversight.
Representatives of private institutions requested a one-time waiver of fines imposed due to delayed renewals. They also welcomed the two-month extension granted for submitting registration and renewal applications.
Officials said the initiative will improve accountability within Islamabad’s private education sector, ensure institutions follow regulatory standards, and provide students with safe and properly registered learning environments.
