Intermittent rain forecast across Punjab

Intermittent rain is expected in Lahore and several parts of Punjab from Monday evening through the night and into Tuesday, while Murree and the Galiyat are likely to receive moderate to heavy snowfall during this period.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that a westerly weather system is affecting western regions of the country and is expected to remain active over the upper areas until tomorrow.

Under these conditions, most districts of Punjab are likely to experience partly cloudy weather on Monday evening and night.

Rain accompanied by gusty winds is forecast for Layyah Bhakkar Khushab Mianwali Sargodha Sahiwal Khanpur Multan Jhang Bahawalpur Bahawalnagar Dera Ghazi Khan Rawalpindi Chakwal Attock Jhelum Mandi Bahauddin Sialkot Narowal Lahore Kasur Chiniot Sheikhupura Gujrat Gujranwala Faisalabad and Okara.

Freezing temperatures along with cloudy skies rain and snowfall are expected in Murree the Galiyat and nearby areas.

On Tuesday rainfall is likely to continue in Rawalpindi Chakwal Attock Jhelum Sialkot Narowal Lahore Kasur Sheikhupura Gujrat Gujranwala and surrounding areas. Isolated locations in northeastern Punjab may receive heavy rain.

Murree and the Galiyat are expected to see freezing conditions with rain and moderate to heavy snowfall while the rest of the province is likely to remain cold and dry.

Authorities have warned that heavy snowfall could lead to slippery roads and possible closures in Murree and the Galiyat. Tourists have been advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.

Lahore’s minimum temperature is expected to range between 06 and 08 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and between 07 and 09 degrees on Wednesday.

Over the past 24 hours cold and dry conditions prevailed across most of Punjab with freezing weather reported in upper districts. Murree was the coldest area in the province with temperatures falling two degrees below freezing. Morning humidity there was recorded at 49 percent.

In Lahore the minimum temperature was recorded at 07 degrees Celsius while morning humidity stood at 80 percent.
