Punjab to provide daily milk & biscuits in government schools

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has convened a special meeting of the School Meal Programme Committee to finalize the company that will provide milk and biscuits to students in government schools.

The programme will be launched in eight districts, including Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Rajanpur, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and Rahim Yar Khan.

Introduced as a pilot project under the Chief Minister’s School Nutrition Programme, the initiative is designed to address malnutrition among schoolchildren.

Officials say that more than 400,000 undernourished students enrolled in 3,527 schools will receive milk on a daily basis.

Used milk cartons will also be collected for recycling, and the funds generated will be spent on the welfare and development of the same schools.
