Gold and silver prices climb to new records in Pakistan

Gold prices continued their upward trend, reaching new highs both in Pakistan and internationally. In the local market, the price of gold per tola rose by Rs2,000 during the day, hitting a record level of Rs472,862.

The price of 10 grams of gold increased by Rs1,714 to close at Rs405,402.

Silver prices also surged to a new all-time high, rising by Rs500 to reach Rs7,505 per tola, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

The rise in silver was reflected in the international market, where silver gained 1.2 percent to $72.27 an ounce after reaching a record high of $72.70 earlier in the session.

On Tuesday, gold had already climbed to Rs470,862 per tola following a sharp increase of Rs8,500.

Globally, gold prices surpassed the $4,500 per ounce mark for the first time, rising by $20 to $4,505 per ounce, including a $20 premium.
