Heavy rain, thunderstorms hit several cities in Punjab

Lahore and several other cities in Punjab received rain with thunderstorms on Sunday, bringing cooler temperatures and pleasant weather, according to the source.

In Kamalia, heavy showers with thunder and lightning were recorded, while Sarai Alamgir also saw widespread downpours affecting both rural and urban areas.

Pindi Bhattian, Wazirabad, and Jalalpur Bhattian were hit by intense rainfall, with Jalalpur experiencing continuous heavy showers throughout the day. Vehari and Muridke were also lashed by rain, causing waterlogging in several spots.

Khanqah Dogran near Safdarabad faced torrential rain that disrupted daily life, while Haveli Lakha enjoyed a drop in temperature after showers.

Daska saw heavy rain that submerged low-lying areas, and Khushab also reported rainfall, improving weather conditions across the region.

Authorities remain alert to the risk of urban flooding, particularly in Lahore and other vulnerable areas, as rainfall continues.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains for Sindh and eastern and southern Balochistan from August 27 to 29.

A fresh monsoon spell is expected to reach Karachi and other parts of Sindh from August 27, while Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpur Khas are likely to receive rainfall until August 26 with intervals.
