PM bans high-octane petrol in government vehicles

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced an immediate ban on the use of high-octane petrol in government vehicles as part of a wider austerity effort to cut public spending.

In an official statement, the prime minister said the directive is effective immediately. He added that if high-octane fuel is necessary, the official using it must cover the cost personally, as its use at government expense is strictly prohibited.

The premier said the decision aims to ensure national resources are used efficiently and responsibly. He instructed all federal ministries, authorities, and subordinate departments to fully comply with the new policy without delay.

Emphasizing the need for fiscal discipline, the prime minister said that austerity measures are essential to prevent unnecessary expenditures. He noted that the move will help lower government spending and improve management of public funds.

He also directed authorities to set up an effective monitoring system to oversee the implementation of the policy and warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the directive.
