Karachi’s water crisis deepened on Friday as frequent power cuts by K-Electric once again disrupted the city’s pumping system.
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation said the K-3 pumping station suffered a significant outage late Thursday night, and the fault remained unresolved.
Earlier in the week, the same station had already faced a long breakdown, with power returning only after 41 hours, only for another cable fault to knock it out shortly afterward.
The plant had also undergone brief repairs on Monday, but the problems persisted, resulting in an estimated 335 million gallons of water lost.
The situation has left several areas, including North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, Gulistan-e-Johar, Scheme 33, parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, Saddar, and Clifton, struggling with severe shortages.
