The continuing monsoon in Islamabad brought heavy rain to the Margalla Hills on Monday, setting off flash floods in the scenic Saidpur village.
The sudden downpour caught many off guard as strong currents rushed through the area near the well-known Des Pardes restaurant, forcing both locals and visitors to rush for safety.
Videos shared on social media show the intensity of the flooding, with vehicles including cars and vans being swept away by the fast-moving water.
Witnesses described scenes of panic as the flood surged through the narrow lanes, flooding homes and shops and trapping several vehicles in its path.
This incident comes as Punjab stays on high alert with more monsoon rain expected. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned of possible flooding in different areas of the province until July 25.
This heavy rainfall is part of the fourth wave of monsoon showers that has already affected several districts. Authorities are urging people in low-lying and hilly regions to stay alert, as more rain is likely in the coming days.
