Major road in Karachi closed due to restoration work

The Motorway Police announced on Saturday that the section of the Lyari Expressway from Garden Interchange to Mauripur has been temporarily closed for all traffic due to ongoing restoration and development work by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).

According to officials, vehicles coming from Sohrab Goth, Hassan Square, and Mauripur are being diverted into the city through the Garden Interchange.

Commuters have been advised to plan extra travel time, avoid the affected route, and use alternative roads until the work is completed.

The FWO’s activities are believed to be part of a larger infrastructure improvement project focused on enhancing road safety, drainage, and overall traffic flow along the Expressway.

Although the specifics of the restoration were not disclosed, authorities emphasized that the section remains “closed for all types of traffic” until repairs are finalized.

Motorists have been urged to stay informed through the Motorway Police’s official social media platforms for updates or emergency alerts, as ignoring the diversion could lead to heavy congestion and delays, particularly during rush hours in Karachi’s busy traffic network.
