Pakistani airport wins top Asia-Pacific Engineering award

Quetta International Airport’s newly rebuilt runway has received the esteemed FIDIC Asia Pacific Engineering Excellence Award at a ceremony held in Islamabad.

Officials shared that the runway, constructed at an estimated cost of PKR 5 billion, was completed without halting airport operations and is now considered one of the longest and most durable rigid runways in the region.

This award was given in recognition of the outstanding efforts of the Pakistan Airports Authority and the project’s consultants for their strong planning, engineering expertise, and safety standards.

The first aircraft to land on the upgraded runway was PIA Flight PK-3250 from Islamabad on 31 May 2023.
