KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another spell of moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in Karachi on Thursday, with a noticeable drop in temperatures during the day.
According to the Met Office, a system of westerly winds is continuing to affect the city, creating unstable weather and bringing down daytime temperatures.
Clouds carrying thunder are likely to form from morning and continue into the afternoon, with rain and strong winds expected in different areas. Some parts of the city may also experience heavy downpours later in the afternoon, evening, or even at night.
The PMD has also warned of strong gusty winds and lightning during the rain.
The maximum temperature in the city is expected to stay between 27°C and 29°C, while the minimum temperature recorded earlier was 18.5°C. Winds were blowing from the northwest at a speed of 4 kilometres per hour at the time.

For Friday, the Met Office has predicted mostly sunny weather, though clouds are expected to return on Saturday as the current system continues, bringing chances of more rain and thunderstorms.
A strong thunderstorm system struck Karachi a day earlier, bringing heavy rain and powerful winds across the city. Korangi received the highest rainfall at 55.6 millimetres, while other areas recorded between 15mm and 35mm.
The severe weather caused several incidents, resulting in at least 19 deaths and leaving many others injured. The Met Office added that rain is also likely in parts of rural Sindh, along with Karachi, today.
