KARACHI: Jamaat Islami has announced that it will hold protest sit-ins at 13 locations across Karachi to raise concerns over dumper accidents, e-challans, and other city problems.
Secretary JI Taufeequddin Siddiqui stated that the protests will begin on Friday at 4:00 PM. The demonstrations are planned at major city points including Star Gate Shahrah-e-Faisal, M.A. Jinnah Road, University Road, Dawood Chowrangi, Korangi Crossing, Noorani Kabab House Chowrangi, Tibet Centre, Mosmiyat, Power House Chowrangi, Hub River Road, Paracha Chowk Shershah, Dolmen Mall Hyderi, North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad 10, Sohrab Goth, and Orangi Town number 5.
The JI official said that the sit-ins aim to protest against accidents involving dumpers and tankers, as well as corruption linked to e-challans.
He added, “We are protesting against the government’s callous attitude and devastated infrastructure of the city,” and condemned the rising number of traffic-related deaths as unacceptable.
