Three local holidays declared from November 22 to 24

PESHAWAR: Authorities have announced three local holidays in Mansehra due to the upcoming by-election in one of the city’s constituencies.

A notification issued by the administration states that all public and private schools will stay closed from November 22 to 24 to ensure a peaceful environment during the polls. The by-election for NA-18 Mansehra is scheduled for November 23, 2025.

Separately, government schools in Balochistan’s colder regions will begin their long winter break from December 16, lasting two and a half months.

Exams for Grades 1 to 7 in Chaman are currently underway and will continue until November 24, while Grade 8 exams under the Balochistan Board will start the same day.

Punjab has also confirmed its winter vacation schedule. Schools across the province will close from December 23, 2025, and reopen on January 13, 2026, marking the start of the new academic session.

Students nationwide are preparing for a stretch of exams followed by extended winter holidays. Meanwhile, rumors about early school closures in Punjab due to smog have been dismissed by authorities, who clarified that no final decision has been made yet.
