Police have issued a travel advisory and finalized security and traffic arrangements ahead of Eid ul Fitr as authorities prepare for a large influx of tourists to the hill station.
District Police Officer Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer said that around 400,000 to 500,000 visitors are expected during the holiday period.
He noted that last year, 28,688 vehicles entered Murree on the first day of Eid, followed by 51,380, 57,855 and 35,119 vehicles on the subsequent three days. The court-set daily vehicle limit is 8,000, which may rise to around 12,000 on peak days.
Police have developed a traffic management plan to cope with the expected crowd. The DPO urged tourists to download the “Safe Tourism Murree” mobile application before travelling. He explained that the app provides access to emergency services including Police, Rescue 1122, Traffic Police and Motorway Police.

He added that the application also features a virtual women’s police station, direct WhatsApp contact with the DPO, and information on hotels, tourist spots, and weather updates.
Referring to the weather forecast, he said rain and thunderstorms are expected in Murree during Eid and advised tourists to drive carefully and follow traffic rules. Visitors can reach emergency services through helpline 15 or via the mobile application.
