Balochistan govt plans monthly stipend for female students

The Balochistan government has put forward a proposal to introduce monthly stipends for female students in an effort to promote girls’ education throughout the province. The proposal was discussed during a key budget planning meeting led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti.

Officials stated that the financial assistance is intended to ease the burden on families and encourage them to continue their daughters’ schooling. The initiative is expected to increase female enrollment and reduce dropout rates, particularly in remote districts.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan briefed participants on the plan and emphasized its potential to narrow the education gap. Education experts believe that incentives for female students can bring long-term social and economic change by strengthening women’s participation in society.

The proposed stipend scheme forms part of wider education reforms focused on inclusion, improved learning standards, and better school facilities. Authorities emphasised that close coordination among departments will be necessary to ensure the programme benefits the intended students without delay.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said, “Promoting girls’ education is not just a policy, it is our responsibility. Education empowers communities and ensures Balochistan’s progress.”

Officials added that the stipend plan will work alongside other measures such as upgrading schools, reaching out to children who are out of school, and improving teacher training programmes.
