PCB approves renovation of Karachi Stadium, Lahore cricket ground

The PCB Board of Governors has given formal approval for the second phase of renovation at Karachi’s National Cricket Stadium, continuing the board’s focus on improving cricket infrastructure across the country.

The decision was made during an online meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, in which members also cleared plans to upgrade the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.

The board commended Naqvi and his team for organizing successful PSL roadshows in London and New York, calling them an important step in promoting Pakistan cricket internationally.

Members also acknowledged the chairman’s role in ensuring the smooth completion of the Sri Lankan team’s recent tour of Pakistan. A resolution was unanimously passed to express appreciation for his efforts.

While addressing the meeting, Naqvi said the credit for maintaining the Sri Lanka tour belonged to the entire PCB team, emphasizing that collective commitment made it possible. He added that the positive response to the PSL roadshows reflected the dedication of both PCB and PSL staff in strengthening the league’s global standing.

Naqvi further shared that work is underway to host PSL 11 matches at Muzaffarabad Stadium, with plans to bring international cricket to the venue in the future. He also announced intentions to build a modern cricket stadium in Islamabad

PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer briefed participants on the roadshows, while officials also discussed upcoming ICC men’s and women’s events. The meeting included deliberations on improving domestic cricket and expanding grassroots tournaments.

The session was attended by Board of Governors members, senior PCB officials, government representatives, and departmental heads.
