The 11th anniversary of the tragic Army Public School (APS) Peshawar attack is being observed today (Tuesday) to honor the martyrs.
On December 16, 2014, militants carried out a horrific assault on APS, claiming over 140 lives, mostly students and teachers.
Various activities and ceremonies are being held across the country to remember the sacrifices of the innocent children.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their firm commitment to continue the fight against terrorism until it is completely eradicated from Pakistan.
In his message, President Zardari stated, “Pakistan’s commitment to defeat terrorism is absolute, and there can be no soft corner for terrorists or those who support, finance, shelter, or justify them.
“He added that the sacrifice of APS students and staff serves as a solemn reminder of the heavy price the nation has paid in this struggle and praised the resilience of APS families who turned their grief into strength for the country.
The president also pointed to documented evidence of Indian involvement in attempts to destabilize Pakistan and affirmed that the country will continue to expose such hostile activities while defending its people with full resolve.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his determination to ensure a peaceful and secure Pakistan where no innocent person suffers, and all perpetrators face exemplary punishment.
He stated that the nation stands united against cowardly terrorists like a “wall of fortified steel” and emphasized that the misdeeds of Khawarij and anti-state elements have no connection to religion or social values.
