Cold and dry weather is expected to continue in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening and night, and will persist over the next two days.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that prevailing continental air over much of the country, along with a shallow westerly wave in the western and northern regions, will maintain cold and dry conditions.
Very cold weather is expected in hilly areas, while moderate to dense fog or smog is likely to persist over Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with its intensity and duration increasing during the week.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature is expected to range between 02°C and 04°C on Wednesday and 01°C to 03°C on Thursday. Rawalpindi will see minimum temperatures between 05°C and 07°C on Wednesday and 04°C and 06°C on Thursday.
During the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across the twin cities and much of the country, with very cold conditions in the hilly areas. Fog and smog continued over Punjab, Upper Sindh, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plains.
Leh was the coldest location, recording temperatures 05°C below freezing. Minimum temperatures in Skardu, Bagrote, Gupis, and Kalat were recorded at -02°C. In Islamabad, the minimum was 04°C with 93 percent morning humidity, while Rawalpindi recorded 07°C with 74 percent humidity.
