Oil Tanker Association warns of countrywide protest

The Oil Tanker Contractors Association has warned that it will begin a nationwide protest and stop fuel supplies if its concerns are not addressed, accusing oil marketing companies of unfair dealings and widespread irregularities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the association’s leaders said that the automation system has turned into a major source of corruption and misuse.

Association representative Abidullah Afridi alleged that commercial loading procedures are being used to discriminate against contractors and that the automation process has been tampered with to benefit certain individuals.

Afridi further said that companies are taking advantage of contractors under the guise of commercial loading. He pointed out that advance taxes are already deducted from contractors, yet they continue to suffer financial losses due to faulty procedures.

The association urged the Prime Minister and President to take immediate notice of what it called the “unjust practices” of oil companies and to ensure swift corrective action.

The leaders warned that if their demands are not met, they will be left with no option but to start a nationwide protest and suspend oil supply operations, which could disrupt fuel distribution across the country.
