Goods transporters have raised their rates by 20 percent after the federal government increased fuel prices, citing higher operational expenses due to new toll plazas and heavy motorway fines.
Nabeel Mehmood, President of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association, said these cost pressures have made it necessary to revise fares.
As a result, moving a container from Lahore to Karachi now costs Rs120,000, up from Rs100,000.
The fare from Lahore to Peshawar has gone up from Rs80,000 to Rs96,000, and the rate from Lahore to Rawalpindi has risen to Rs72,000 from Rs60,000.
Similarly, transporting a container from Karachi to Lahore now costs Rs350,000 instead of Rs300,000.
The route from Karachi to Peshawar has seen an increase from Rs400,000 to Rs500,000, and the Karachi to Rawalpindi charge has also risen from Rs400,000 to Rs500,000.
