Lahore, Karachi rank among world’s most polluted cities

Lahore and Karachi rank among the world’s five most polluted cities, with Air Quality Index (AQI) readings of 296 and 167, respectively. India’s Delhi tops the list, registering a hazardous AQI of 416.

Data from the IQ Air website on Sunday at 2:28 pm shows Lahore in second place with a “very unhealthy” AQI of 296, followed by Kuwait City at 184, labeled as “unhealthy.”

Baghdad comes fourth with an AQI of 181, also “unhealthy,” while Karachi ranks fifth with an AQI of 167, categorized as “unhealthy.”

Cairo stands at sixth with an AQI of 163, and Sarajevo at seventh with 153, both marked “unhealthy.” Chengdu, China, is eighth with an AQI of 148, considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups,” followed by Dhaka at 139 and Kolkata at 139, both also “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”

In summary, Delhi’s air quality is hazardous, Lahore’s is very unhealthy, cities ranked third to seventh are unhealthy, and those from eighth to 19th are unhealthy for sensitive groups.
