Double-decker buses arrive at Karachi port: Sharjeel Memon announces

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon announced on Monday that a fleet of double decker buses has arrived at Karachi Port, according to the report.

The minister shared the update on the social media platform X, posting pictures of the buses along with details of their arrival.

“Double-deckers Buses for #Karachi reached the port. Inshallah, soon these buses will be on the roads for the people of Karachi by the transport department of the government of Sindh,” he wrote on his X account.

Sharjeel Memon stated that the Sindh government is actively working to enhance public transport facilities in Karachi and resolve the long-standing commuting issues faced by city residents.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif rejected an increase in fares for the Tourism Development Corporation Punjab double decker bus service.

The fare had been raised from Rs200 to Rs500, with a separate proposal to increase charges from Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 for corporate groups, educational institutions, and commercial activities.

Following the chief minister’s orders, the notification regarding the revised fares was withdrawn, and the previous rates were restored. Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed strong displeasure over the increase, saying it would place an unnecessary financial burden on the public.
