Karachi Traffic Police begin crackdown on Qingqi rickshaws

The Karachi Traffic Police have launched a strict campaign against Qingqi rickshaws, overcrowded vehicles, and other traffic violations across the city.

The decision came during a meeting at the DIG Traffic Karachi office attended by senior officers and transport representatives.

Officials agreed that no Qingqi rickshaw would be allowed to carry more than five passengers, and strict action would be taken against double parking, overspeeding, and one-way violations.

The meeting also emphasized driver education to reduce accidents and ensure better compliance with traffic laws. Authorities said all enforcement measures would be carried out through the faceless e-challan system for transparency.

Transport representatives welcomed the e-ticketing initiative and assured their full cooperation. Both sides also agreed to conduct joint training sessions for drivers to promote discipline on city roads.

In another major move, all minibuses and coaches in Karachi have been directed to install GPS tracking devices by October 27, 2025.
