ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more monsoon rains across different regions of the country from September 16 to 19.
Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are moving into northern areas, while a westerly system is expected to enter on Monday evening and persist until September 19.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Showers with wind and thunderstorms are expected in districts including Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Waziristan, and adjoining areas during the period.
Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan: Scattered rains are likely in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur, and other districts of Kashmir, with isolated heavy showers on September 16 and 18. Light to moderate rain is also expected in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamer, and nearby valleys.
Punjab/Islamabad: Intermittent rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum between September 16 and 19.
Rain is also forecast for Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and surrounding cities on September 18 and 19, with chances of heavy downpours in some places.
Sindh and Balochistan: Mostly dry weather is expected, with partly cloudy skies along Sindh’s coastal belt.
The Met Office warned that thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds could damage weak structures, billboards, and power lines.
Landslides may occur in hilly regions of KP, GB, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat, while heavy rains could trigger flooding in local streams and nullahs.
Authorities have urged the public and tourists to remain cautious and stay updated on weather advisories.
