Roti rates increase at tandoors across Pakistan

Roti prices have gone up in several parts of Pakistan following an increase in wheat and flour rates across the country.

In Lahore, tandoor owners have increased the price of roti from Rs16 to Rs25, while naan now costs Rs35 instead of Rs30.

The Naanbai Association announced the revised prices and warned that tandoor owners may be forced to close their businesses if the government attempts to roll back the increase.

According to the association, the price of a 20kg flour bag has reached Rs2,400, while maida is now being sold at Rs12,000.

Meanwhile, Director General Food Punjab said the government is providing 40kg of wheat to flour mills at Rs. 3,800. He added that wheat prices are expected to come down gradually.

In Karachi, flour prices have also risen sharply. Chakki flour, which was previously available at Rs125 per kg, is now being sold between Rs160 and Rs170 per kg.

Peshawar has also witnessed a rise in flour prices, with the cost of a 20kg flour bag increasing by Rs300 over the past month.

In Quetta, a 20kg flour bag is now priced at Rs2,800. Tandoors in the city are charging Rs40 for a single roti and Rs80 for a double roti.

The increase in wheat and flour prices has driven up roti prices in major cities, adding to the financial burden on consumers across Pakistan.
