Private schools to remain closed until November 16 in Quetta

QUETTA: Authorities in Quetta have ordered the temporary closure of several private schools until November 16, following a second straight day of internet and mobile network suspension across the city and other parts of Balochistan.

Officials from the Home Department said the communication blackout was imposed as a precaution after intelligence reports indicated possible terrorist threats.

The measure aims to protect citizens and prevent any untoward incidents, officials added.

Security has been tightened throughout Quetta, with heavy deployments of police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other law enforcement agencies. Strict checking is being carried out at all major entry and exit points, and vehicle as well as pedestrian movement is being closely monitored.

The prolonged suspension of internet and mobile services has disrupted daily routines, impacting students, journalists, doctors, and business professionals.

Given the situation, private schools in the city have decided to stay closed until November 16 to ensure the safety of both students and staff.
