Punjab govt announces 8000+ teaching jobs

The Punjab Higher Education Department has approved the hiring of 8,084 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) to tackle faculty shortages in government colleges across the province.

According to the allocation plan, 5% of positions are reserved for minorities, 3% for persons with disabilities, and 0.5% for the transgender community.

Engagement Period

CTIs for Intermediate classes will be appointed from October 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, while those teaching BS programs will serve from October 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026, or until permanent staff are hired.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must hold a BS or Master’s degree with at least a second division in the relevant subject.

Candidates with MPhil or PhD qualifications will be given preference. Academic performance, higher qualifications, and university positions will add to the merit score, along with interview results.

Stipend

  • Intermediate level: Rs. 50,000 per month
  • BS/Graduate level: Rs. 60,000 per month
  • Payments will be transferred directly to selected candidates’ bank accounts.

Terms & Conditions

There is no age limit for applicants. CTIs will be allowed two casual leaves per month but will not receive TA/DA. Engagements are temporary and may be terminated for unsatisfactory performance. Recruitment will be strictly merit-based, and fake or forged documents will lead to cancellation and legal action.

Objective

The initiative aims to ensure smooth academic activities in Punjab’s colleges for the 2025-26 academic session until permanent faculty appointments are made.
