ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government has decided to reopen schools earlier than planned for Class 9 and 10 students, reversing its earlier move to extend summer vacations.
Classes for 9th and 10th graders, O Level and A Level students, as well as Intermediate (FA/FSc) students, will now resume on Monday, August 18, instead of the previously announced date of September 1.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the decision was made after consultations with experts, who highlighted the need to restart higher classes early to avoid academic disruption.
Punjab Summer Vacations 2025
| Category | Date |
| 9th & 10th Grade Reopening | August 18, 2025 |
| 1st to 8th Grade Classes | September 1, 2025 |
Students from grades 1 to 8 will continue their summer holidays and return on September 1.
The order applies to all public and private schools in Punjab. Authorities have directed schools to strictly follow heatwave safety guidelines, including ensuring proper drinking water facilities, ventilation, and adjusted school timings.
The earlier extension of vacations had been announced due to extreme heat and student safety concerns, but the early reopening for senior classes is being viewed as a step to protect academic progress despite the ongoing weather challenges.
