The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has urged all married citizens to update their marital status in official records as soon as possible to avoid future legal issues.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the authority noted that many individuals have registered their marriages with Union Councils but have not yet updated their details in the NADRA database.
NADRA emphasized that these individuals should visit NADRA centers promptly to ensure their marital status is correctly recorded. This update is part of NADRA’s ongoing efforts to maintain accurate and current citizen data.
The authority has also introduced an SMS service to inform married citizens about the update process. Further guidance is available through the helpline at 1777 (for mobile users) or 051-111-786-100, and on the official website www.nadra.gov.pk.
Updating marital status on a National Identity Card (CNIC) requires a fee of Rs100 and is categorized as an “unprintable alteration.” Applicants must submit relevant documents such as a marriage certificate or Nikahnama, depending on their situation.
Additionally, NADRA has launched a Biker Service to deliver CNICs and other products directly to citizens at their homes. The service operates daily from 9 am to 7 pm in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas.
The at-home service carries a fee of Rs1,000, which includes Rs825 for the service and Rs175 for delivery. Fees may vary depending on the type of documents, and the service is currently available for the executive category only.
